How we collect information

Some of the information we have about you is from when you gave it to us. For example, when you create an account in order to use our services. Other information is collected automatically when you are using our website or services on your computer or phone.

Examples of this would be improving your user experience by reading your IP for geolocation or using web cookies to save information about your interactions with our website or services on your device.

We do our best to make sure that you are aware when we are collecting your personal information, and what it will be used for. For example, when you connect your bank account to us for your prequalification, we explicitly require that information to do your prequalification calculations.

We also collect relevant information about you through various third party services, such as Equifax to look at your credit report, or your employer.

What information we collect

We consider your given name, surname, date of birth, postal address, telephone number, mobile phone number and email address to be your personal information.

We will likely ask you for your Social Insurance Number to look at your credit report. Your SIN is the best way to ensure that the information provided by the credit reporting agency is accurate. Your SIN also helps to reduce the risk of mortgage fraud.

Personal information security

Houski uses cutting-edge security practices to protect your personal information. Houski's security practices are likely on par with military grade software security practices. That said, it is impossible and unethical for any company to guarantee that your personal information will never be compromised. We can only promise to protect your data to the best of our ability.

Retention of your data

We keep your information for as long as it is needed for your mortgage transaction. We will keep it longer if there is a law that requires us to.
